ABSTRACT
The intention of the author of this text was to compare the theory of capabilities approach of Martha C. Nussbaum with theory of power and act of Aristotle’s, by Mieczysław A. Krąpiec and Karol Wojtyła. In the first part of the text
there is a short characteristics of M.C. Nussbaum literary output. The next part consists of defining the category of possibilities as crucial in power conception. Further part presents conceptions of power and the act according to Aristotle, M.A.
Krąpiec and K. Wojtyła as well as the conception of human capabilities by M. C. Nussbaum. In the last part of the text there
is a comparison of all the conceptions referring to the four highlighted criteria.
