Abstract: The article presents the results of empirical research on the factors contributing
to burnout among academic teachers at the John Paul II University in Biała Podlaska. It
discusses the nature of burnout, the causes of burnout among academic teachers, and the
results of internal research conducted at the university on burnout among its academic
teachers. Material and methods: The study covered 96 people, i.e. nearly half of the academic
teachers employed at the John Paul II University in Biała Podlaska. Data was collected
using a survey method and a questionnaire. Results: Analysis of the responses of the academic teachers surveyed on issues related to
their professional burnout made it possible to identify the factors of professional burnout
both in general terms and taking into account the demographic variables characterizing
the respondents, such as gender, academic degree, form of employment, and teaching load. Conclusions: The study contributed to increasing knowledge about the phenomenon of
burnout among academic teachers at the John Paul II University in Biała Podlaska and
indicated that the issue is of great interest to the employees working there.
