The author presents the attitude of Orthodox youth towards religious tradition, based on pilot studies. The results of the research prove that religiousness is a basic element in the self-identification of Orthodox youth. It can be clearly
seen that young people define themselves through the prism of belonging to a given religion. The surveyed young people
strongly identified with the institution of the church which is a carrier of values and allows preserving individuality. The
respondents accurately interpreted the essence of religious tradition and underlined its importance in the context of their
confession.
