ABSTRACT
Abstract: The COVID-19 lockdown affected stress levels and physical activity (PA) in various groups, including medical students. This study assessed stress, PA, and their relationship among Polish medical students post-pandemic. Material and methods: 708 students from Wroclaw Medical University completed the International Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ) and The Perception of Stress Questionnaire (KPS). Results: Men reported higher Vigorous PA than women (p=0.0014), but Total PA was similar. Walking dominated PA. Only ~20% achieved Health-Enhancing Physical Activity (HEPA) levels. Women had higher Emotional Tension, Intrapsychic Stress, Lie Scale, and Overall Stress Score, External Stress did not differ. Physically inactive women exhibited higher stress, unlike men. Cluster analysis identified four profiles, showing an inverse PA-stress relationship. Conclusions: Female medical students showed higher stress and lower PA post-pandemic. Gender differences should guide strategies supporting student well-being. Low HEPA adherence indicates ongoing public health challenges, warranting further research on gender-specific motivation and long-term stress-PA dynamics.
